The mission of South Coast Botanic Garden is to serve the community by providing a unique horticultural and wildlife habitat experience, and to represent a model of excellence for land reclamation and sustainability.
The South Coast Botanic Garden delivers education, programs and events offering layered experiences of surprise, adventure, beauty and serenity through color, texture, sound and light. .
ADVANCE PURCHASE IS REQUIRED FOR GARDEN ENTRY. THE GARDEN IS OPEN 8:00 AM TO 5:00 PM (LAST ENTRANCE ALLOWED AT 4:30 PM) DAILY.
Bodie Ghost Town
Local aviation history comes alive on First Sundays. Our Chain of Hangars is open for you to explore from 10:00am until 2:00pm. (Except when cancelled for rain.) And it‘s all free! Don‘t forget to pick up a free map from our home museum hangar and start your tour. You are free to visit the hangars in any order you wish, either by walking the airport, or catching the tram.

The South Coast Botanic Garden is located on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula, located 10 miles south of the Los Angeles Airport in California. Conveniently located to many South Bay communities, this 87-acre Botanic Garden has more than 2,500 different species of plants from as far away as Australia, the Mediterranean, and southern Africa.
The Garden is situated in Sunset’s Zone 23, one of the most favored growing areas in the world. About 100 trees and shrubs are rare mature specimens, infrequently seen elsewhere. The wide variety of plant life provides food and shelter to an abundant wildlife and bird population, and over 200 species of birds are sighted annually.

Descanso Gardens is an urban retreat of year-round natural beauty, internationally renowned botanical collections and spectacular seasonal horticultural displays. In 1953, Descanso founder E. Manchester Boddy preserved these 150 acres of gardens, woodlands and chaparral for future generations to experience the natural heritage and beauty of Southern California.
