It looks like the County is going to start opening things back up! Wow! I am ready to get out and do some stuff! I know things won’t be like we were used to, new guidelines will be in place to stop (or at least slow) the spread of the virus. Face masks, 6 feet away from people, curbside pick-up, etc., will be the new normal.
I haven’t heard or seen anything about when they will lift the no more than 10 people gathering, so, until I do, we can assume we will not be allowed to meet as a group yet. Our Board met Tuesday, again via Zoom, and we are all in agreement that we will continue to use Zoom as a meeting place for us until the order is lifted. I screwed up last month and forgot to hit the record button while the meeting was taking place. I’ll make sure it records on Tuesday so we can place the link on the website. So, if you cannot make the meeting, you will be able to watch it there. I will send out a separate email with the link to the meeting over the weekend.
This month we are going to cover things you can photograph while you are sheltering in place. I am going to shoot several items while using a 60mm lens. I normally don’t use this lens and this will be a good exercise in practicing gear I don’t normally use.
Again, if you have been shooting and want to share your work, please email to me at email@example.com and I’ll include them in the meeting slides. Please send them no later than Monday May 11th at 5 pm, 1000 pixels longest side at 96 dpi.
Last month we had 21 members who attended the zoom meeting which I thought was pretty good! Also, this month we will elect the new Board of Directors. You can either attend the zoom meeting and vote (as we would do at a regular meeting), or you can vote via email. The email must be received no later than 6 pm on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 in order to be valid.
The Board nominations are as follows:
President: Kevin Karzin
1st VP: Garry Tice
2nd VP: Dusty Stiles
Treasurer: Mel Carll
Secretary: (Vote for one)
To vote via email, just copy the nominations above, place an x beside the person you are voting for and then paste into the email.
In closing, Eleanor Gray has stepped down as Director at Large to concentrate on her duties as president, of Professional Photographers of Los Angeles County (PPLAC). I’d like to thank Eleanor for her years of dedicated service to the SCVPA and I request that you all do the same. She will be missed!
Take care everyone, stay safe and keep shooting!
