What is this?
Built in the 1920's, the Devil's Gate Dam in the Arroyo Seco is the first flood control dam in Los Angeles County. Named for a rock outcropping which resembles the face of a devil, Devil's Gate gorge, it's located in northern Pasadena between La Cañada Flintridge and Altadena, and is the narrowest spot on the Arroyo Seco's course below Millard Canyon.
The dam has a long history of disappearances, intrigue and devil worship.
Located at the southern end of Hahamongna Watershed Park, it's a popular hiking and biking area with beautiful landscapes, arching bridges and waterfalls.
We will be hiking, so please dress warm and wear sturdy shoes!
